Port Ellen Distillery
Diageo announced the reopening of Port Ellen way back in 2017 and fans of the distillery have been waiting excitedly since then. Finally rescheduled for re-opening in 2023, Port Ellen has garnered a cult following that is delighted by the news, and by the knock on impact to the value of vintage bottles on the secondary market.
When Port Ellen closed in 1983 its original stills were lost, which is always going to be the biggest point of contention for Port Ellen drinkers and analysts in the future, how close could the distillate really be? Rumoured to only produce 500,000 litres per year for the first decade of production, Port Ellen will be something to really focus on as people prepare to compare old and new in the next few years.
Wilson & Morgan
Wilson & Morgan is an Italian independent bottler that has been bottling Scotch whisky since the 1960s, although its origins can be traced back to 1920s Treviso, when the grandfather of the current Wilson & Morgan chairman moved there from Venice.
In the coming decades, Wilson & Morgan began importing Scotch whisky for the Italian market. In 1992, Wilson & Morgan Barrel Selection was established, and brings vintage single malt Scotch whiskies to connoisseurs worldwide.
