Benromach Distillery
Benromach is located in Speyside near to the coast. The distillery was built in the late 19th century, and production started in 1900. Production was fairly intermittent and the distillery went through a number of ownership changes, eventually ending up under the wing of DCL.
DCL refurbished the distillery, but it was mothballed in 1983, the same year in which distilleries such as Brora and Port Ellen were closed as a result of the 1980s Whisky Loch. Benromach was reopened in 1998 and Gordon & Macphail built a visitors centre in 1999.
Benromach’s forerunning single malt, a 10 year old, was released in 2009.
Connoisseurs Choice
Arguably Gordon & Macphail’s most famous series, the Connoisseurs Choice range showcases a variety of single malts from every region in Scotland. The range was launched in the mid-1960s and remains a by-word for high quality single malts from distilleries such as Macallan, Ardbeg, and Port Ellen.
